I had to go out shopping for holiday gifts in the horrible weather this afternoon. The husband and I had to pick up some photos from the lab that our friend works at and even with her discount it was about 50 bucks for us to get the photos the we wanted to buy frames for and send out as gifts. Then we headed towards IKEA with a short stop over to get food (Original Pancake House - YUM). On our way to IKEA we got a bit side-tracked stopping in to the new REI right down the road. Don't go to REI when you are broke, It just makes things worse. We decided to justify spending money we didn't really have to buy shoes for both of us and then he got a few pairs of pants on sale and I got a new jacket from the clearance rack. The jacket is super cute - too bad it fit me much better with the sweater I tried on in the store but couldn't justify buying than it does with the clothes that I have! (I'll post pics as soon as I am able, probably a few days)
Then it was IKEA... I know, I know, IKEA is WONDERFUL. The trouble is, 3 days before xmas the throngs are really more than I can handle and invariably (no matter what time of year) I feel like I am in a rat-maze. I feel so trapped - one big giant "you can't get there from here" location. I just wanted to buy some frames and wrapping paper! That isn't entirely true, I also needed a DAIM bar.
Now that we are (finally) home we assessed the damage to our checking account, heaved heavy sighs and are now trying to figure out a plan for dinner. I am leaning towards Matzo Ball soup being that it is the first day of Chanuka and I make it well.
